Katherine V. Kissmann Earns National Award for Research Administration Leadership

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas (June 4, 2026) – Katherine V. Kissmann, associate executive director for Texas A&M University’s Sponsored Research Services, was honored by the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) with the Julia Jacobsen Distinguished Service Award for her service and leadership in the research administration community.

One of NCURA’s highest honors, the Julia Jacobsen Distinguished Service Award recognizes up to five members each year who have made significant contributions to NCURA.

Since joining NCURA in 1994, Kissmann has served in numerous volunteer and leadership roles at both the regional and national levels, including former Region V chair, member of the national board of directors, editor of NCURA Magazine and chair of the Region V Mustang Leadership Development and Mentoring Program. She has also contributed extensively through conference presentations, workshops and mentoring programs that build a community for research administrators.  

“It is an honor to be recognized by my peers and the National Council of University Research Administrators as a leader in service to the global research administration community,” said Kissmann, who currently serves as the Region V Representative on the national NCURA Board of Directors. “Volunteering with NCURA has been a cornerstone of my career, fostering lasting professional relationships and affirming that through service, we find purpose, forge meaningful connections, experience growth and develop a deep sense of community.”
